WISA to support PHD Candidate Nalinjana Biswas

WISA welcomes PhD Candidate Nilanjana Biswas to Darwin and the Australian seafood industry. Nilanjana will work alongside Natasha Stacey and Kate Golebiowska from the Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods at Charles Darwin University. The topic of Nilanjana’s PhD is the participation, contribution and workforce retention of women in the seafood industry in the Northern Territory. The PhD is supported by WISA in conjunction with the Northern Territory Seafood Council.

Nilanjana, from Bangalore in India, has a master’s in applied psychology and a post graduate diploma in systems management. Nilanjana has 20 years of experience working on gender issues in small scale fisheries and 30years of engagement with gender issues in India. In her spare time, Nilanajana can be found out in the garden, reading a book or listening to her favourite music. WISA are excited to work with Nilanjana as part of our Turn the Tide project and look forward to keeping updated with how her important research progresses.
