Women in Seafood Australasia (WISA) and Turn the Tide are offering three bursaries to support women to take part in the 2024 National Seafood Industry Leadership Program. WISA believes in supporting pathways to women’s leadership.

The National Seafood Industry Leadership Program (NSILP) is the only national industry-specific leadership program designed in consultation with seafood industry people for people wishing to take up leadership roles within the seafood industry.

NSILP is run by the highly-regarded Affectus. Affectus is a team of dedicated leadership development professionals. Their passion is helping people transform their lives so they can influence and shape the future of others.

WISA Bursary Guidelines:

The bursaries are designed for women who are passionate about their work and the Australian Seafood Industry, and who want to develop their leadership capacity.

WISA are offering bursaries to successful NSILP applicants. This means if you are interested,

  1. You will need to fill out the NSILP application and be accepted through the Affectus selection process
  2. Eligibility for a WISA bursary will then be assessed.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Women must work in or with the seafood industry, I.e.
    • Commercial fishing
    • Aquaculture
    • Indigenous/traditional fishing/aquaculture
    • Postharvest sectors
    • Research, technical, development
    • Government
  • Applicants from Australia, applicants must also be a WISA member. You can become a member here.

Selection criteria:

  • Priority will be given to women without other means to attend.
  • Priority will be given to women from rural, remote and regional and multicultural communities; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
  • Applicants will be ranked based on responses to NSILP application, follow up questions may be required.

Bursary details:

  • 3 bursaries will be offered in 2024
  • Bursaries are to a maximum $5000
  • Eligible costs:
    • Program Fees
    • Travel and accommodation
    • Childcare (or other caring costs to be discussed with WISA) costs
    • Bursars will be reimbursed for costs as they arise through the program
