Mentoring Program

Each year of Turn the Tide, a free facilitated Mentor Program will help women progress in their careers in the seafood industry.

The program matches women at all career stages with mentors experienced in business and the sector. The Affectus team will work alongside you to support along the way.

Mentoring is a planned pairing of a more experienced person with a lesser skilled individual for the purpose of achieving mutually agreed outcomes. It is a partnership in which both individuals share in a growth process and the personal development of one another.

The Turn the Tide mentoring program places two people together to learn from each other. A mentor and mentee will be skilled, profiled and paired together for a 12-month program.
The mentoring pairs will be provided with skills sessions and materials to ensure that the mentoring relationship is productive and supportive.

2025 Turn the Tide Mentoring Program applications for Mentors are now open. This is the third year of the Turn the Tide project, don’t miss your opportunity to take part.

An information session on the program will be held on the 4th of February 2025, you can register to attend here, or you watch the recording of the information session here!

We are looking for mentors and mentees to participate.

The program will match women at all stages of their careers with mentors, and we will be with you to support you both along the way.

The mentoring program is online and free for WISA members.

Time commitment to the program:

  • There are two 4hr formal workshops. One at the start of the program on the 6th March 2025 and the second one at the end of the program on the 9th December 2025.
  • Every 2 months there will be drop in sessions online for participants to ask questions or brainstorm with the Affectus team.
  • Every alternate month interesting and relevant material will be provided to participants to help enhance their mentoring partnership.
  • Mentors and mentees have access to a program portal with resources
  • We recommend that mentoring meetings take place at a minimum of once a month and each meeting is no longer than 1 hour. This, however, is ultimately for the pair to decide and commit to at the commencement of the mentor partnership.
